The 5th International Choir Festival ,,Canco Mediterrania,, and Pau Casals Choir Competition is held in the 15-20 of September 2015 in Barcelona and Lloret de Mar –capital of coast Costa Brava. ,,Costa Brava-Best of the World 2012 Top Travel Destinations,,- National Geographic Traveler
The 5th International Choir Festival and Competition ,,Canco Mediterrania,, and Pau Casals Choir Competition is an international choir competition with various categories for amateur choirs- mixed choirs, female choirs,male choirs in sections: senior choirs ,adults choirs, youth choirs,school choirs and children’s choirs.
During the festival, choirs take part in special choir concert in the impressive Cathedral of Barcelona. The choirs have the possibility to participate on the 5th International Choir Festival, but without participating on the choir contest.
At the concerts in the Cathedral of Barcelona may perform a limited number of choirs. The choirs, that have first submitted an application and have made other formalities connected with the festival, will have the priority.
The competition bidding was deliberately designed to give each choir the chance to express its own traditions and strengths.
The competition has five categories:
Category S: SACRED MUSIC
Category F: FOLKLORE
Category C: CATALAN MUSIC
Category P: POP MUSIC
Category PC: PAU CASALS COMPOSIOTION
The choirs will be divided several sections:
-section A-senior choirs (2/3 of the participants must to be older than 55 years)
-section B-adult choirs(2/3 of the participants must to be older than 26 years).
-section C- youth choirs(2/3 of the participants must to be 26 or younger)
-section D- school choirs (2/3 of the participants must to be 16-19years)
-section E-children choirs(2/3 of the participants must to be up to 16 years)
PRIZES
The choirs will by assessed by one international Jury.
Prizes in each of the five categories: 1st place 2nd place 3rd place golden diplomas, silver diplomas, bronze diplomas. The Jury can award exceptional prizes for special performances.
Apart from Diplomas and Commemorative Medals the best choirs receive the additional financial prize in two categories: the Catalan Music category and Pau Casals Compositions category. The total amount of the Prizes is of 1600 Euro .In the Catalan Music category the additional money prize can only be given to the choirs from outside Catalonia.
REGISTRATION
The choirs one kindly asked to send application form. When submitting an entry form you must include a short bio of the Choir (max. 1200 characters, spaces included) and a high quality digital picture of the Choir.
Registration fee : 150 Euro per choir. The registration fee must be paid by bank transfer. The entrance fee of 150 eur allows the participation in all 5 categories of music ( without paying extra for participating in each competition category ).
ACCOMODATION
Accommodation in 3*** and 4**** hotels in Lloret de Mar .Hotels (swimming pool, satellite TV, double rooms ,free buffet (Full Board : 3 meals per day: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) .
The persons who want accompany the choir can be accommodated in the same prices as the choir members.
The Festival does not cover any of the travel and accomodation costs.
For the participant choir , the Festival can organize several excursions: Boat trip Mediterranean to medieval town of Tossa de Mar(optional) ,
Visit St.Clotidle Gardens in Lloret de Mar www.lloretdemar.org .(optional), Visit of Girona.
The cost for transportation and the travel guide will need to be covered by the participants.
For choirs which arrive by plane at the airport in Barcelona and Girona, the organizers offer help in organizing coach transfers from airports to hotels in Lloret de Mar and transport to concerts in Barcelona combined with visits of the major attractions in Barcelona (the transfers paid additionally)
